Second battle of St. Albans

Battle Name : Second battle of St. Albans

Date(s) : 17 February 1461

Part of : War of the Roses ,

Outcome : A victory for Lancastrian Forces over Yorkist Forces

Type of battle : Land

Warwick brought the Yorkist army north from London and met Queen Margaret's army at St Albans. His four part defensive structure was such that although each part engaged gave a good account of itself, they could offer no mutual support and were attacked one at a time. A large desertion of Yorkist troops did not help Warwick's position and he made a fighting withdrawal with about 4000 troops.
Henry Vl was united with Queen Margaret.
