Summary

Buller's Third attempt to break through the Boer lines overlooking the Tugela River and relieve Ladysmith met with as little success as the previous ones, although mercifully with fewer casualties. Earned him the nickname 'Ferryman of the Tugela' for his repeated crossing and recrossing of that troublesome waterway.
